Jennifer Lawrence will star in Sony’s romantic dramedy “The Rosie Project.”

The movie, based on the Graeme Simsion novel, centers on a socially awkward genetics professor who devises a science-based survey to find the perfect mate — only to see those theories splintered when he meets the spontaneous Rosie Jarman, who possesses the opposite qualities. Scott Neustadter and Michael Weber, who teamed on “(500) Days of Summer,” have revised Simsion’s adaptation of the novel.

In Simsion’s story, the protagonist designs the Wife Project to find his perfect partner through a 16-page survey to filter out drinkers, smokers and late arrivers — characteristics possessed by the titular Rosie Jarman. The professor becomes intrigued by Rosie’s own quest to identify her biological father, leading to an unlikely relationship as they collaborate on The Father Project.

Sony is seeking a director. “The Lego Movie” co-directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller were initially interested but have opted to take on Disney’s Han Solo “Star Wars” standalone movie.

Sony acquired the film rights to “The Rosie Project” last year and set it up with Sony-based producers Matt Tolmach and Michael Costigan.

Lawrence will be seen next in the final “Hunger Games” film, “Mockingjay — Part 2,” which opens November 20, and in Fox’s drama “Joy,” which launches on Christmas Day. She is in pre-production on Sony’s sci-fi romance “Passengers” opposite Chris Pratt.

Jennifer Lawrence will part ways with her X-Men character, Mystique, once she completes filming the latest installment in the franchise, X-Men: Apocalypse.

“It is my last one, actually,” the actress, 24, told MTV News at the premiere of her new movie, Serena, on Saturday.

Lawrence’s debut as the blue bombshell was in X-Men: First Class, which was released in 2011. After grabbing the hearts of X-Men fans around the world, Lawrence gave a return performance in X-Men: Days of Future Past, which was released in 2014.

Simon Kinberg, who co-wrote and co-produced X-Men: Apocalypse, spoke with Collider last year and hinted that the latest film would be Mystique’s last.

“I will say that X-Men: Apocalypse is definitely the close of a trilogy for those First Class characters, which isn’t to say we won’t see them in future movies, hopefully we will, but it’s a completion of an arc for them,” Kinberg said.

Kinberg also said the film will further examine the relationship between Mystique and Beast, played by Lawrence’s ex-boyfriend, Nicholas Hoult.

“The relationship between Beast and Mystique is a really interesting one that we didn’t have a lot of time to explore in Days of Future Past, so we’ll have an opportunity to do more of that in Apocalypse,” he said.

X-Men: Apocalypse is scheduled to hit theaters May 27, 2016.

I’d just like to take a moment to wish Jennifer a very happy 23rd birthday today!!
